When my husband and I first started our multiple streams of income mindset and were able to get the first stream of business started, we were so excited that we wanted the best of everything. We dreamed so big that we started to try to implement every possible option in order to expand as fast as possible. Now dreaming is definitely a good thing but sometimes too much of a good thing is not so good.
We were hiring people left and right, taking on extra responsibilities and based our actions on the fact that we would start something, and then just let go and let God. Well...this is when we had to learn the power of focus the hard way. We pushed ourselves so far ahead so fast that our world turned upside down. We invested in multiple streams of income and the responsibilities started to pile up, balls started to drop and doubt of God's abilities started to creep in. That's right, I'm not perfect and I'll be the first to tell you that I'm far from it. We all know that Jesus used a donkey right? So lets move on...
The first thing that we need to know about The Power of Focus is what the word power means.
The King James Version of Luke 10:19 states "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you."
Tip: You can go to blueletterbible.com and do a word study on any scripture. If the scripture is found in the Old Testament then that means that it was originally written in Hebrew. If the scripture in located in the New Testament than that means that is was originally written in Greek.
Since Luke 10:19 is located in the New Testament the greek word study results are as follows.
Greek Word Study:
Power: exousia - which means permission, physical power & mental power.
Tread: pateō - to trample, crush with the feet
Serpants: ophis - with the ancients, the serpent was an emblem of cunning and wisdom. The serpent who deceived Eve was regarded by the Jews as the devil.
Scorpions: skorpios - it has a poisonous sting in its tail
2nd Power word used: dynamis - which means strength, power, ability
Nothing: oudeis - guess what this means...NOTHING meanse NOTHING!
by any menas: ou mē - this greek works translated means at all or never.
Behold, I give unto you permission, the physical and mental power to crush (with your feet) wise and cunning deceivers and anything that has a poisonous sting, and over all the ability of the enemy: and nothing shall AT ALL shall hurt you.
In order to receive the power of focus you first have to realize that you have been given the power.
In John 14:12, Jesus states that "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."
It is important that you meditate and study as many verses on power that you can find in order to receive the full revelation of power that Jesus died on the cross to give you before you can truly walk in it's successes.
Once you have a good foundation and understanding of the power that you have been given then it will be easier to enter into the power of focus.
In Phillipeans 3:13 Paul states "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but [this] one thing [I do], forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before"
apprehended: katalambanō - to lay hold of so as to make one's own, to obtain, attain to, to make one's own, to take into one's self, appropriate
reaching forth: epekteinomai - to stretch out to or towards
Brethren, I count not myself to have made anything my own: but [this] one thing [I do], forgetting those things which are behind, and stretching myself unto those things which are before.
So the one piece of advice from Paul is to not focus on anything other than stretching yourself toward your goals. If you look at the present or the past it is easy to get discouraged or distracted which will force you to take more time to reach the things of God that you really desire.
Have you ever been stretched? Pushed so far beyond your limits that you just want to quit, lose hope, complain or have a nervous breakdown but yet you don't give in? Something deep insides you forces you to just go a little bit further in order to see the fruits of your labor just on the other side. So close you can smell it.
In Phillipeans 3:14 Paul follows with "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
I press: diōkō - to run swiftly in order to catch a person or thing, to run after
So not only did Paul stretch himself towards the things of God no matter the situations or circumstances but he ran swiftly. He ran fast after his goal. When I was young I was raised with 3 brothers and 1 sister. The sister of course was the baby of the family so for a while I was left to play with 3 boys day after day. So most of my days were spent playing war in the woods or sports. We would often play football at a neighbors house and I for one was very competitive as none of my brothers were allowed to be better than me. Or at least that is what I told myself. I remember lining up in formation with all boys and maybe one other girl. It had been raining that weekend so the grass was still wet and you could still feel the dampness in the air. Everytime the ball was in play you're thinking...I have to be near the goal, I have to find an open space so the ball can be passed to me, I have to make sure no one gets in my way or my teams way, or I have to run and dodge every potential hinderance that comes in my way as I'm running for the goal. For 1 to 2 hours all you are allowed to think about is the goal. Well that is we are supposed to be fighting for our goals. That is how you truly press towards the mark. No matter how hard you get hit you have to pick yourself up off the ground, laugh and keep playing the game. This is what it takes to master multiple streams of income.
Thank you Lord that in Luke 10:19 you state that we have been given permission to crush the the enemy, both physically and metally. Thank you for givng me power over the enemy so that nothing AT ALL shall hurt me. I thank you for the strength and wisdom to carry out your will in Phillipeans 3:13 that states that I need to not think on those things which are behind but instead I need to focus and stretch myself only for my future goal. Thank you that I like Paul, in Phillipeans 3:14, press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen.
To Your Success and Freedom
